Alanna Grogan, Registered Psychotherapist (RP)

A woman with long, wavy brown hair smiling in front of dense green foliage.

My passion for therapy is based in the belief that it can provide a space for authentic connection – with yourself, with another person, and with your experience of life.

Therapy can be a time that you set aside to reflect, to feel your feelings, to share your story, and to tend to what’s needed. The name “Living Roots” reflects my intention to create a space for cultivating what will be supportive of your individual health and wellbeing. Ultimately, I hope that your experience in therapy can help to nurture the roots of genuine engagement with your life, and with living meaningfully.

My approach to therapy is gentle, yet explorative.

I want therapy to be a place where you can go at your own pace, and where your inner wisdom can be heard and respected. This means that I will bring to our sessions a steady commitment to trusting in your individual strengths and ways of being resilient. I will not tell you what to do, but I will do my best to help you stay accountable to your goals and values. My aim is to work collaboratively with you in the direction of your intentions for therapy, while remaining rooted in genuine curiosity and compassion.

I am eclectic in my therapeutic approach, but I often draw on mindfulness-based, compassion-based, emotion-focused, and humanistic-existential modalities.

I work with adults from all walks of life, and I have supported individuals experiencing a wide range of challenges in my work in community mental health and private practice. I have a particular focus on supporting clients with ADHD, helping them to navigate the challenges that come along with neurodivergence while honouring their unique ways of being (both related to ADHD and otherwise). However, I remain open to working with many different therapeutic goals and concerns. If you think I might be the right fit for your therapy journey, please don’t hesitate to reach out or book a consultation call and we can take the next steps together.

Outside the therapy office, you might find me in the dance studio, exploring the woods on a hike or backcountry camping trip, or curled up with a book and my cat friend, Bub (who might make the occasional appearance in virtual sessions).
